The Method

Two clubs on the same record are rarely the same side. One has won four games by three points, the other has won four by twenty. We rank on points scored minus points conceded, divided by games played, and show the record alongside so you can see where the two disagree. No opinion, no preseason hangover, no reputational nudge.

Why use points margin instead of win-loss record?

Because record hides how a side is winning. Four narrow wins and four blowouts read the same in the standings and mean very different things next week. Margin separates them.

Are power rankings the same as the NFL standings?

No. The standings are the official division tables and playoff seeding. Power rankings are an ordering of all 32 clubs by performance, and a club can rank well here while missing the playoffs.

How do power rankings help with betting?

They are a sanity check on a line. If a club is priced as a heavy favourite but sits mid-table on margin, the market may be paying for reputation rather than form.
