Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes 2026 Result
| Pos | Horse | Jockey | Trainer | SP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | Angel Capital | Ben Melham | Chris Waller | $5.00 |
| 2nd | Sepals | Ethan Brown | Ciaron Brown | $11.00 |
| 3rd | Regal Award | Lachlan Neindorf | Phillip & Tommy Stokes | $9.50 |
| 4th | Lady Shenandoah | Craig Williams | Chris Waller | $4.80 fav |
How our tip went. It did not run. We were on Tennessee Bound each-way off the 52kg minimum, and the horse was scratched, so the bet was a refund rather than a loss. The caveat in the read below turned out to be the whole story: a jockey had still not been declared when the field was released. Sixteen of the eighteen acceptors started. The favourite, Lady Shenandoah at $4.80, ran fourth, and Sepals, who won the 2025 running, came back to finish second.
Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes 2026 Field & Best Bets
Run Saturday 19 September 2026 at Caulfield over 1400m as a Group 1 handicap. A capacity field of 18 accepted, and unlike the Underwood this is a true handicap: Tom Kitten carries 59kg at the top and four runners sit on the 52kg minimum, a spread of seven kilograms across the field. That is the whole character of the race, because a Group 1 handicap over 1400m at Caulfield is where a well-weighted lightweight has historically done the damage.

| 17 | Harry’s Yacht | 15 | 52kg | Jett Stanley | L & T Corstens & W Larkin | 112345 |
| 18 | Tennessee Bound | 11 | 52kg | To be declared | C Maher | 1-11122 |
The read. Tennessee Bound is the one the weights favour most: 52kg, a 1-1-1-1-2-2 form line and the Maher stable, though a jockey had not been declared when the field was released, so confirm the booking before committing. Sun God is the other lightweight with live claims, 53kg from barrier two with four wins and a second in his last six. Warnie won last start for Maher and sits mid-weight from a good gate. Of the topweights, Tom Kitten has to carry 59kg from barrier 14, which is a hard ask in a full field over this trip. In a race this size the barrier draw and the tempo will decide more than the ratings, so the each-way and top-10 markets are where the value usually sits rather than the outright.
