Lead-In Races
The main lead-ins are the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) and the Group 3 Reginald Allen Quality (1400m). The Flight is run on Epsom Day, on the same card as the Epsom Handicap and the Metropolitan.
2026 lead-up form. The Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes was run at Randwick on 19 September over 1400m and went to Bangkok Hottie ($3.90, Kerrin McEvoy, David Payne), who beat the Chris Waller-trained favourite Striking Alibi ($2.70) with Global Goal ($7.50) third. The market had Striking Alibi on top and she was run down, which makes Bangkok Hottie the filly with the strongest recent Randwick 1400m form heading into the mile.
🏆 Result: Global Goal ($3.30, John Sargent, Dylan Gibbons) won the 2026 Flight Stakes by 0.35 lengths from De Armas, with the favourite Bangkok Hottie third.
Flight Stakes 2026 Result
| Pos | Horse | Jockey | Trainer | SP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | Global Goal | Dylan Gibbons | John Sargent | $3.30 |
| 2nd | De Armas (NZ) | Zac Lloyd | Chris Waller | $12 |
| 3rd | Bangkok Hottie | Kerrin McEvoy | David Payne | $2.80 fav |
| 4th | Queen’s Gamble | Tommy Berry | Matthew Smith | $20 |
How our tip went. It lost. Bangkok Hottie started favourite and ran third, 0.55 lengths from the winner, and with only seven runners bookmakers paid two places. Global Goal was third behind her in the Tea Rose, so the form line held but the order reversed over the extra 200m. Randwick was rated Soft 6 by race time, softer than the Good 4 of Friday.
Flight Stakes 2026: Final Field, Barriers and Best Bet
Seven fillies accepted, all at the set weight of 56kg, with Randwick rated Soft 5 at acceptances and upgraded to Good 4 on Friday. With fewer than eight runners, bookmakers pay only two places, which changes the each-way maths.
| No. | Horse | Barrier | Jockey | Trainer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bangkok Hottie | 3 | Kerrin McEvoy | David Payne |
| 2 | Striking Alibi | 2 | James McDonald | Chris Waller |
| 3 | Global Goal | 5 | Dylan Gibbons | John Sargent |
| 4 | Queen’s Gamble | 7 | Tommy Berry | Matthew Smith |
| 5 | De Armas (NZ) | 1 | Zac Lloyd | Chris Waller |
| 6 | Sumac | 6 | Jason Collett | Lee & Cherie Curtis |
| 7 | Parisest Magic | 4 | Rachel King | Alexandre Lemarie |
Our best bet: Bangkok Hottie (barrier 3). She won the Tea Rose over 1400m at this track last start, running down the favourite Striking Alibi, and has Kerrin McEvoy back from barrier 3. It is the strongest recent Randwick form in the race. Striking Alibi, from barrier 2 for Chris Waller and James McDonald, is the clear danger after starting favourite in the Tea Rose, and the extra 200m may suit her. Global Goal, third in the Tea Rose, completes the form line.
