Collingwood and Sydney go head-to-head at the Adelaide Oval on Friday night. The Magpies have continued to impress in recent weeks, taking their record to 3-1 with a hat-trick of victories since Round 1. The Swans, meanwhile, are moving in the right direction after evening their record at 2-2 with a win over North Melbourne. This shapes up as a clash between experience and the exuberance of youth — and we’re backing experience to triumph, with the Magpies edging out Sydney in a close one.
North Melbourne vs Gold Coast
Suns to win and over 180.5 points
North Melbourne and Gold Coast do battle in AFL 2025 Round 5 as the Kangaroos host the Suns at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Kangaroos have conceded over 110 points in three of their four fixtures this season, and we expect the Suns — still boasting a perfect record — to pile on the goals against a struggling North Melbourne side.
Carlton vs West Coast
The Blues to win by 40+ points
Carlton and West Coast meet at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a battle of the winless, with both sides looking to register their first points of the season. Thanks to a historical advantage over the Eagles — who haven’t beaten the Blues since 2021 — we expect Carlton to get off the mark against wooden spoon favourites West Coast.

This promises to be one of the best matchups of Round 5 as an industrious Bulldogs side looks to halt the Lions’ momentum. We’re expecting a war of attrition, with Brisbane just edging it to preserve their perfect start to 2025 — expect a close one.
Melbourne vs Essendon
Bombers to win -1.5 handicap
A winless Melbourne will host Essendon in AFL 2025 Round 5 at the MCG on Saturday night. The Demons will see this as their best chance to get off the mark after four straight losses, but it won’t be easy — the Bombers are fresh off a bye, with their last fixture a grinding win over Port Adelaide. We’re backing a Fremantle side — sitting at 2-2 — to repeat what they did in 2024, when they thrashed the Tigers by more than 50 points.
St Kilda vs GWS Giants
