Norm Smith Medal Tips
One of the greatest individual honours a player can receive, the Norm Smith Medal – named after one of the greatest AFL players in history – has been awarded to the best player in the AFL Grand Final since 1979.
If the Swans are to come away with a triumph over Richmond, they will be led by brute Isaac Heeney in the midfield, who has the x-factor to drive the Cats to kick a winnable score.
However, I believe the Lions will continue their recent run, which could see them bounce back after going down in narrow fashion in the decider last year – and if that is going to happen, you know that the two-time Brownlow Medalist, Lachie Neale, will be instrumental with his gut-running and skill in the contest.
Other player from the Lions to look out for are Hugh McCluggage and Cam Rayner. Sydney are sure to put plenty of time into Lachie Neale and the classy McCluggage polled the 10 coaches votes the last time the two sides met. Rayner had a quiet first half in the Preliminary Final against Geelong before helping to turn the game in the second half with 14 disposals and four goals.
Midfielders have won eight of the past 10 Norm Smith Medals and the Swans have an abundance of players that rotate through this part of the ground including Chad Warner and Errol Gulden
