We’re backing the Suns to edge the Hawks at home, with recent history firmly on their side — Gold Coast have won the last three meetings by margins exceeding 50 points. While a blowout seems unlikely this time around, the Suns’ strong home form and psychological edge should be enough to make it four straight victories over Hawthorn.
Sydney vs Carlton
Blues to win
Sydney host an in-form Carlton side at the SCG on Friday night, with both clubs looking to stay in touch with the top eight. The Blues have found their rhythm in recent weeks, winning four of their last five, and they’ll head into this one with growing confidence and momentum. While the Swans are always a threat at home, Carlton look well-positioned to spring an upset, and we’re tipping the Blues to continue their surge and claim another big scalp on the road.
Collingwood vs Adelaide
Pies to win by 1-39 points
Adelaide head to the MCG on Thursday afternoon to face Collingwood — the current favourites for the 2025 AFL Premiership. The Pies have silenced any talk of ageing legs, operating instead like a ruthless, well-oiled machine. Ominously for the Crows, you have to go all the way back to 2017 to find the last time Adelaide avoided defeat against Collingwood, when the sides played out a dramatic 103–103 draw. Since then, it’s been all black and white. We’re backing Craig McRae’s side to extend their dominance in Round 10.
GWS Giants vs Fremantle
Giants to win by 40+ points
The GWS Giants host Fremantle at the Sydney Showground on Saturday afternoon in a clash that the home side will be confident of winning. While the Giants have lacked consistency this season, they’re coming off a huge win over Geelong, and there’s a growing belief that their best footy is still ahead of them. With Fremantle managing several injury concerns, we’re backing Adam Kingsley’s side to get the job done on home turf.
Port Adelaide vs Geelong
Cats to win by 1-39 points
Port Adelaide will welcome Geelong to the Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon. The Cats have solidified their spot in the top eight and are shaping up as a genuine final’s contender, even after a loss to the Giants in Round 9. While Port Adelaide will put up a strong challenge at home, Geelong’s solid defensive unit, combined with a potent attack, should give the Cats the edge in what promises to be a closely contested match.
Western Bulldogs vs Essendon
Dogs to win by 1-39 points
Essendon face a tough test on Saturday night as they take on the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium. The Bombers are in strong form recently, but they’ve had difficulty matching up against top-eight teams, and this game is expected to be no different. In particular, Essendon are likely to struggle with the Bulldogs’ physicality and depth, giving the Dogs the edge in this matchup. Though a dominant win isn’t guaranteed, we’re backing the Bulldogs to secure a relatively comfortable victory.
Richmond vs North Melbourne
Tigers to win with 5.5 handicap
Round 10 kicks off on Sunday at the MCG with a bottom-of-the-ladder clash between Richmond and North Melbourne — two sides expected to be battling to avoid the wooden spoon all year. North Melbourne did hold reigning premiers Brisbane to a 71-71 draw in Round 9, but that result may prove more of an anomaly than a sign of things to come. It’s unlikely to be a classic, but Richmond, with a marginally better record this season, should have enough to edge past a struggling Roos outfit whose finals hopes are already all but gone. We’re backing the Tigers to cover the +5.5 handicap in a low-stakes but competitive contest.
Brisbane vs Melbourne
Lions to win by 40+ points
Brisbane’s Round 10 clash with Melbourne at the Gabba on Sunday afternoon presents the perfect opportunity for the Lions to strengthen their grip on top spot after an unexpected draw with cellar-dwellers North Melbourne in Round 9. It’s been a season of stark contrasts for these two sides, with Brisbane flying high while Melbourne have struggled at the other end of the ladder. We’re backing Brisbane to make a statement with a dominant win and further consolidate their place as the AFL’s front-runners.
West Coast vs St Kilda
Saints to win with -20.5 handicap
West Coast’s nightmare season shows no signs of easing after, and things aren’t likely to improve when they host St Kilda at Optus Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles remain winless after nine rounds and look set to break a string of unwanted records this year. We’re backing the Saints to pile on the misery with a commanding victory and cover the -20.5 handicap with room to spare.
