Carlton ran riot at a sold-out Marvel Stadium on Good Friday to beat North Melbourne by 82 points. It was the Blues’ biggest score of the 2024 campaign, with Michael Voss’ men piling on 15 second-half goals to blow the Roos away and hand Alastair Clarkson’s side a fourth straight defeat.

Bombers Win Thriller

West Coast 11.9 (75) def. by Essendon 11.11 (77)

Essendon edged a Good Friday thriller at Optus Stadium, sneaking past West Coast by two points. It was heartbreak for the winless Eagles, with Peter Wright’s timely return proving decisive as the Bombers forward kicked six crucial goals.

Kysaiah Pickett grabbed Melbourne’s season by the scruff of the neck at the MCG on Saturday as the forward guided his side to a 10-point win over Fremantle. With five goals and a relentless shift in midfield, Pickett delivered the type of fight that the Demons have been missing in the opening rounds, while also halting Fremantle’s three-game winning streak.

Adelaide have come out the right side of a hard-fought arm wrestle at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday to beat the Giants by 18 points. Despite rain and wind threatening to spoil the contest, the Crows dug in, with skipper Jordan Dawson playing a pivotal role, racking up 27 disposals, nine inside 50s, and eight hard-hitting tackles.

Tigers Roar at Marvel Stadium

Richmond 12.8 (80) Gold Coast 9.15 (69)

Richmond continued the Easter weekend surprises, edging Gold Coast by 11 points at Marvel Stadium. This defeat was the Suns’ first loss of the season, but the Tigers had to hold firm as Gold Coast threatened a comeback, kicking five straight goals in the fourth quarter. It wasn’t enough, though, as Richmond secured their first win since Round One.

The Power Down Swans

Sydney 10.17 (77) def. by Port Adelaide 13.7 (85)

It was a case of missed chances for Sydney at the SCG on Sunday as Port Adelaide held on for an eight-point win. Remarkably, the Swans capitalised on just eight per cent of their inside 50s in the opening term. The Easter Sunday victory means it’s back-to-back wins for the Power after downing the Hawks last week.

Bulldogs Tear Saints Apart

Western Bulldogs 18.19 (127) def. St Kilda 8.8 (56)

Luke Beveridge’s relentless Bulldogs ensured it was a painful Easter Sunday for St Kilda, beating the Saints by 71 points at Marvel Stadium. The Dogs’ huge win did come at a cost, though, as Sam Darcy appeared to significantly injure his left knee in the opening term, with a season-ending prognosis likely to follow this week. It’s now consecutive defeats for the Saints.

Cats Win Easter Epic

Geelong 12.14 (86) def. Hawthorn 11.13 (79)

Geelong and Hawthorn delivered yet another classic as the sides went head-to-head on Easter Monday, with the Cats emerging victorious by seven points in front of a roaring GMHBA Stadium crowd. The Hawks have now suffered back-to-back defeats, while the Cats are starting to find their rhythm in these tight encounters. Both sides now sit at 4–2 for the season.
