It’s a blockbuster showpiece as the Kansas City Chiefs look to become the first back-to-back NFL champions in almost two decades when they square off against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday February 11 (Mon, Feb 12 AEDT). It’s a rematch of Super Bowl LIV, which saw the Chiefs emerge triumphant by a 31-20 score. KC are aiming to capture their third Super Bowl crown in just five years, while the 49ers are hoping to secure their first title since 1994.

The Chiefs look good value as slight underdogs here. San Francisco looked vulnerable at home in the NFC Championship game against the Lions, needing to recover from a 17-point deficit, which they did during an eight-minute period in the third quarter. Brock Purdy threw for 267 passing yards, adding a further 48 on the ground, while Christian McCaffrey scored two touchdowns for the second consecutive week, meaning he’s now crossed in all six of his career playoff appearances. But back to the Chiefs – they are coming off a much more impressive 17-10 victory over the Ravens in the AFC Championship fixture. Patrick Mahomes is a top five quarterback of all time and he led KC in breaking down the top-notch Baltimore defence. Coach Andy Reid also has an incredible record of a bye, winning 31 of his last 38 games straight off. The Chiefs have won their last three meetings with the 49ers and have been in this position many times recently, while the 49ers are under all the pressure to snap their three-decade Super Bowl drought. Happy to side with the Chiefs as underdogs money line.

Super Bowl LVI First Touchdown Scorer Odds & Picks

Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce is the clear standout option when it comes to first touchdown scorer. Kelce has scored at least one touchdown in eight of the Chiefs’ last nine postseason games and has crossed first in three of his last six postseason appearances. Kelce always steps it up in the postseason and was the second-most targeted tight end in the league in the red zone this season (20). He’s the No. 1 option for Mahomes and should receive the bulk of attention once more in the big dance.

For the 49ers, it’s hard to look past Christian McCaffrey – the on-fire running back has scored two touchdowns in his two postseason games this term and ranks fourth for touchdowns on the season in the NFL. McCaffrey has scored 12 touchdowns in his last 10 games this season and is a threat both on the ground and in the air. He’s certainly the main man for the 49ers.

Meanwhile, a good anytime touchdown bet is Rashee Rice for the Chiefs. Rice actually has more red zone targets than Kelce (26) and has scored eight touchdowns on the season. The one danger with Kelce is he will be heavily guarded by the 49ers, meaning Mahomes could look to his secondary options early – and Rice is most definitely his most favoured behind Kelce.

Super Bowl 2024 – Taylor Swift Betting Predictions

Ambry Thomas – Over 3.5 Tackles & Assists

Thomas has registered 4+ tackles in five of his last seven games and only three times all season has he gone below three, so he’s either hitting or coming within one on the majority of occasions. Charvarius Ward is a guy the Chiefs will want to throw away from considering his current level, which means Thomas will likely be targeted on the other side. Thomas lines up on the right corner, which is where Chiefs wide receiving Rashee Rice usually plays on his left. Rice has become Mahomes favourite target during the second half of the season, which should lead to plenty of tackling opportunities for Thomas.

George Kittle – Over 48.5 Receiving Yards

Kittle has transformed into Purdy’s go-to target against blitz-heavy opponents – he’s had massive games against the likes of the Vikings, Jaguars, Bucs and Packers for a total of 364 total receiving yards at an average of 91 per game in those meetings. Overall, Kittle has covered this line in nine of his last 12 games and in a favourable matchup for this prop, he looks great value here.
