NFL Super Bowl LVII Preview
After 157 days, it all comes down to this: The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs squaring off for the right to become Super Bowl LVII champions at State Farm Arena in Arizona. It’s the third time in the last four seasons that the Chiefs have competed in the Super Bowl, while the Eagles are in the big dance for the first time since their stunning upset of the Patriots back in 2017. This also marks the first time two brothers have faced off in Super Bowl history, with Travis and Jason Kelce also playing for family bragging rights.
These teams took contrasting paths to the Super Bowl. The Eagles, who raced out the gates with a 8-0 start this season on the back of some Jalen Hurts magic, were dominant in the postseason, crushing the Giants and 49ers by a combined 55 points. Meanwhile, the Chiefs edged past the Jaguars and Bengals by seven and three points respectively, avenging their defeat to Cincinnati in the latter. Patrick Mahomes was playing on an injured ankle, but still managed to throw for 326 yards and two touchdowns. Hurts has also been struggling with a shoulder injury, so both QBs coming into this showdown with question marks surrounding their overall fitness.
Hurts has proven he can soldier on over the last month or so and he has the luxury of being able to confidently rely on his defence. The Eagles have been monsters on defence all season, conceding an average of just 195.5 yards per game on the ground and through the air. The next best was the Ravens (234 per game), while the Chiefs rank fifth with 321.5. With both teams equally as explosive in offence, this game could come down to holds up firm in defence – and that gives the Eagles a slight edge. They can put pressure on the Chiefs, disrupt their rhythm and grind them into submission.

Super Bowl LVI First Touchdown Scorer Odds & Picks
Chiefs star wide receiver Travis Kelce is a clear standout option when it comes to first touchdown scorer. Kelce had a total of 38 red-zone opportunities this season, which is easily the most out of anyone in the NFL. To put that number in perspective, other top pass-catchers such as Stefon Diggs had 25, Ja’Marr Chase had 31 and the entire Chicago Bears unit of receivers and tight ends had just 37 combined. Kelce had scored 15 touchdowns in 17 postseason games and has combined with Mahomes for 13 postseason touchdowns, which is two short of the all-time record. Kelce has scored the first touchdown in each of the Chiefs’ last two games and crossed for at least one touchdown in eight of his last nine postseason games. He steps it up in the postseason and is a strong chance to score first here.
For the Eagles, it’s hard to look past Jalen Hurts. The QB has scored at least one touchdown in five of his last six games and is the leading TD scorer for Philadelphia this season with 13 from 15 games, ahead of Miles Sanders and AJ Brown (both 11 from 17). Over the Eagles’ two playoff games, Hurts had a team-high six carries inside the 20 for 36 yards and two scores. Bengals QB Joe Burrow lead their rushing vs the Chiefs in the playoffs, so good chance for Hurts to use his legs to make it into the end zone.
Philadelphia Eagles vs Kansas City Chiefs Picks & Betting Tips – Best Super Bowl Multibet
- Eagles were the best and most consistent team all season and there’s no reason to believe they can’t finish it off with the Super Bowl. They have the best defence in the league and can nullify all of the Chiefs’ strengths, while Mahomes is still questionable under that ankle
- The last four Super Bowls have gone under the total points line, with just four of the last 10 producing more than 50 points. As mentioned, the Eagles have a strong defence that can hold off the Chiefs’ offence. KC have seen Under 50.5 points in their last five games, while the Eagles have gone under this total in five of their last six
- Travis Kelce has scored 15 touchdowns in 17 postseason games and has crossed for at least one touchdown in eight of his last nine postseason appearances
- DeVonta Smith has registered Over 63.5 receiving yards in six of his last eight games
- Patrick Mahomes has registered Over 38.5 passing attempts in five of his last six playoff appearances, along with 24 & 49 throws in his last two Super Bowls. If his ankle is still bothering him, Mahomes will attempt more passes
Super Bowl 2023 Halftime Betting
Global pop superstar Rihanna will be headlining the Super Bowl halftime show with a highly-anticipated performance, considering she hasn’t really performed or released much music over the last six years or so.
Rihanna has an enormous catalogue of hits and in Super Bowl halftime shows, the artists tend to fly through snippets of their songs, rather than perform them from start to finish. With this in mind, we can be fairly confident will perform at least 10 of her songs throughout the show.
We can also bet on which guests will perform on stage with Rihanna. Jay-Z is the most likely in our opinion – Rihanna’s biggest ever song is arguably ‘Umbrella’ and Jay-Z is pretty active at the moment having recently performed at the Grammys. Jay has also served as a Super Bowl halftime producer over the last few years, so he’s active around the setup.
For some value, we’re hopping on T.I. to grace the stage as well. ‘Live Your Life’ is also one of Rihanna’s biggest smash hits (No. 2 all-time according to Billboard) and it’s a celebration type of song, perfect for the Super Bowl stage. T.I.’s daughter also recently went viral across social media singing Rihanna’s latest song ‘Lift Me Up’, so there’s a connection there too.
Super Bowl MVP Predictions & Tips – Best Most Valuable Player Picks
Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes are the two heavy favourites to claim Super Bowl MVP honours for a reason – they spearhead their respective teams and you can be very confident, that whichever of the Eagles and Chiefs prevails, the MVP award will be going to the QB. All but one one occasion, the MVP has been awarded to a player from the winning team.
Considering we’re backing the Eagles to win, we’ll also be jumping on Hurts to land MVP. Hurts has thrown for 24 touchdowns and contributed 15 of his own this season, so if Philadelphia win, you can be sure Hurts will be the central figure behind it.

Super Bowl Player Prop Tips
- JuJu Smith-Schuster – Under 38.5 Receiving Yards
Smith-Schuster’s volume and usage has fallen off a cliff in recent times. In his last five games, Smith-Schuster has registered Under 38.5 receiving yards, putting up numbers of 27, 21, 35, 29 & 7 during that period. He’s only had 10 receptions combined in those five appearances, with Mahomes preferring to target Kelce and McKinnon. To make matters even more tough for Smith-Schuster, he is still recovering from knee swelling suffered in the AFC Championship game, which could impact his effectiveness come Sunday. Furthermore, the Eagles have the best passing defence in the NFL, which means the Chiefs will need to be targeting their best wide receivers to do damage – and at the moment, Smith-Schuster isn’t part of the conversation.
- DeVonta Smith – 60+ Receiving Yards
Smith has improved as the season has gone on and has really cemented himself as one of the NFL’s premier receivers over the last month or so. He’s posted his first ever 1,000+ yard season and will be a key piece of the Eagles’ attack for the Super Bowl. We’re liking Smith to exceed 60 receiving yards in the big dance. Smith has registered 60+ receiving yards in seven of his last eight games, putting up numbers of 102, 64, 126, 113, 115, 67, 61 & 36 during that period. As you can see, he’s covering this line with ease on the majority of occasions. Smith is also extremely dangerous running deep, so there’s a good chance he can even chase down a large portion of this total in one reception.
NFL Super Bowl LVI Novelty Props Betting Predictions & Tips
One of the most popular novelty prop bets is what colour of Gatorade will be poured over the winning coach in the post-match celebrations.
Blue has been the colour of choice four times since 2015, which is why it’s the favourite, but we’re going to go a different route and back yellow/green.
Former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was drenched in yellow Gatorade when the Eagles won the 2017 NFC Championship and the Super Bowl a couple of weeks later. Furthermore, current coach Nick Sirianni was given a yellow bath when the Eagles beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship last month, while yellow was also used to pour over Chiefs coach Andy Reid when they beat the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.

What to Consider When Betting on the NFL Super Bowl 2023
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when betting on the Super Bowl due to the immense amount of available markets.
However, if you aim to keep it simple, things become much easier and less stressful. For example, there’s a reason the Eagles are favourites. They’ve been the best team in the NFL all season and have been ripping teams apart in the postseason. Taking the Eagles in either the H2H, spread or 1-13 margin betting are all calculated bets that are likely to happen.
You can also have fun with the novelty props before the game to potentially fill up your bank before the game gets underway. 50-50 chances such as the coin toss can be a quick and easy way to start your Super Bowl betting experience and if you’re successful, you can wager your winnings on live betting.

Super Bowl History
The Super Bowl is the annual championship game to determine the NFL’s champion for each season. The term ‘Super Bowl’ was coined in 1966 as part of a merger agreement between the NFL and the American Football League, where the league’s best teams would compete for the right to be crowned champion.
Since 1971, all Super Bowls have been contested between the two best teams from each conference (the National Football Conference or NFC and American Football Conference or AFC).
Out of the 32 current teams in the NFL, 20 have won a Super Bowl and 14 have captured multiple championships.
New England Patriots and Pittsburg Steelers, both of the AFC, hold the record for most Super Bowl titles with six apiece, while the NFC’s Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers have five each. The Cowboys have the most appearances in a Super Bowl with eight.
The Super Bowl is one of the world’s most watched sporting competitions and usually tops the ratings in the United States each year.
