Adelaide vs Collingwood Preview

The Crows were resilient against the reigning premiers, eventually falling to a 28-point defeat.

Adelaide was superb in the first half, leading for the majority of the contest, but wasn’t able to contain Richmond, who controlled the match in the second half, taking 91 more marks in the match.

They will need to tighten up defensively against Collingwood on Saturday, after allowing the Tigers to go at a whopping 60.4% inside 50 and taking 20 marks inside 50.

However, their clearance work was strong, having 40 clearances, with the majority of those coming from stoppages. The Magpies will be undermanned in the midfield, and the Crows will look to take advantage of it.

Meanwhile, the Magpies were disappointing in the first half, but a decent second half saw them come within 10 points against Geelong.

Collingwood only managed one goal and 11 behinds in the first three terms against Geelong, but a five-goal last term salvaged what was a lacklustre performance.

The result wasn’t the only displeasing thing to come out of the match, with superstar ruckman Brodie Grundy pinching a nerve in his neck and will miss the next two to three weeks, along with teammate Taylor Adams.

Scoring has been an issue for Nathan Buckley’s side, who have failed to score over 60 points in the previous three weeks.

Both sides will be craving a win to help them move out of the bottom four, but considering the Crows home advantage, I believe they’ll be the ones to claim the four points.

Crows vs Magpies Team News

The Crows will be forced to make one change with Sam Berry suffering a concussion. Jackson Hately is the likely replacement.

The Magpies will make a host of changes after another poor performance. Jamie Elliot will return for the first time since his leg injury, whilst Brodie Grundy will miss.

The two sides last met in Round 11 last season which saw the Magpies win by 24 points.
