Geelong vs Adelaide Preview

Geelong enjoy a golden opportunity to further cement their spot in the top eight when they host the Adelaide Crows at GMHBA Stadium in AFL Round 21.

The Cats sit in 6th position on the ladder and just half a game from second-placed Brisbane. The 2022 premiers come off a 40-point win over North Melbourne last weekend and it was Tom Stewart that starred with 32 disposals, while Tyson Stengle and Ollie Dempsey combined for six goals.

Adelaide were no match for a rampant Hawthorn side in Round 20, going down to the Hawks by 66 points at the Adelaide Oval. Rory Laird, Lachlan Sholl and Jake Soligo all found plenty of the footy but the Crows could not match Hawthorn’s run.

The Crows are out of finals contention and sit in 15th spot on the ladder with seven wins and a draw to their credit. They head in as underdogs for this match, although it is worth noting they were memorable two-point winners over Essendon the last time they played Victoria, which was two weeks ago. In the same round, Geelong lost at GMHBA Stadium. But given what is at stake, we can expect a Cats victory in this match.

Cats vs Crows Stats

  • Geelong have won six of the past seven matches between the two sides.
