Carlton vs St Kilda Preview

Carlton head into the final round of the season having to win to secure a spot in the top eight. The Blues sit in 8th position on the ladder after a confidence boosting 65-point win over the West Coast Eagles last weekend.

The Blues snuck back into the top eight following the victory over the Eagles, edging out Fremantle, who now sit in 9th. But a loss to St Kilda will open the door up for the Dockers, who play just after the Carlton and St Kilda match up.

The Saints are out of finals contention and sit in 13th position with 10 wins but have been playing some good football in recent times. The Saints have won four of their past five matches and handed 4th placed Geelong an 18-point defeat at Marvel Stadium last Saturday.

Rowan Marshall, Jack Steele and Jack Sinclair were among the better players for St Kilda, while Jack Higgins snagged three goals up forward.

Carlton will rely on more of the same from Patrick Cripps and Jacob Weitering, while their makeshift forward line will need to convert again in the absence of Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay. Hard to split these two sides but given what is at stake, I expect the Blues to get the job done.
