Bulldogs vs Carlton Preview
With their top-eight hopes dented last weekend, the Western Bulldogs will face Carlton at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs will start Round 18 a win outside the eight following a disappointing 102-54 loss to Port Adelaide in South Australia. Missing Liam Jones, one of the league’s top interceptors, the Bulldogs conceded 100+ points for just the fourth time this season.
The Dogs have a 1-4 record in their last five matches without Jones, highlighting his importance as they prepare to face Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay on Saturday.
Despite McKay’s five-goal performance, Carlton fell short in a 116-104 loss to GWS last weekend. Curnow has also struggled recently, kicking only three goals in the past two weeks.
The last meeting between these sides was in Round 9, 2023, where the Bulldogs secured a 79-59 victory at Marvel Stadium, driven by Tom Liberatore’s impressive 26 disposals, 13 clearances, and one goal.
Carlton then closed the year off in much better form before just falling short of making the Grand Final. They should have the class to outlast the Dogs in what might be a tight contest at Marvel Stadium.
