Hawthorn vs Collingwood Preview
16th placed Hawthorn take on the ladder leaders, Collingwood, in Saturday twilight action at the MCG. The Magpies will be looking to respond after dropping just their third game for the season last weekend when they went down to Carlton by 17 points.
Craig McRae’s side were well beaten in the midfield by Carlton, while they turned the ball over at regular intervals when transitioning from the backline as the Blue spearhead, Charlie Curnow, cashed in with six goals.
They take on a Hawthorn outfit that have shown promise at different stages this season en route to winning five matches. The Hawks also come off a loss, going down to St Kilda by 29 points. They conceded nine goals in the first quarter and cannot allow the Magpies to get a run on in this game.
Key players for the brown and gold include Mitchell Lewis and Luke Breust. The latter comes off an equal career-high six goals.
Hawthorn will need to stop the likes of Nick Daicos, Josh Daicos and Jordan De Goey in the middle of the ground, while the 2018 Brownlow Medalist, Tom Mitchell, comes up against his former side for the first time. Expect him to be on the winning side.
