Essendon vs Carlton Preview

This shapes as a huge encounter with the two sides squaring off in front of what should be a massive crowd at the MCG on Sunday night.

Essendon have the superior record in 2024 with eight wins and a draw from their 12 matches but head in as slight underdogs against a Blues side that have won eight of 12.

The winner will find themselves in the top four at the conclusion of the round and one step closer towards cementing a double chance at the end of the regular season.

Essendon tasted defeat for the first time since Round 4 last weekend when going down to the Gold Coast Suns at the Gold Coast by 11 points. Zach Merrett picked up 33 disposals in the loss, while Nic Martin and Sam Durham chipped in with 24 and 23 apiece.

That trio take on a Carlton midfield that boasts the likes of Patrick Cripps and Sam Walsh.
