Essendon vs Hawthorn Preview

Essendon’s woes continued against the Western Bulldogs in their last outing as their record moved to 1-6. It has been the worst start to a season after seven games in the club’s 150-year history.

The alarm bells are ringing and if they are to fail to get the four points on Saturday night, the questions mark will start to appear on the coaching staff. Their chances don’t get any easier, with Jake Stringer suffering a hamstring injury that will set him back a month.

Meanwhile, Sam Mitchell’s side was hit with their second back-to-back defeat this season after a narrow 10-point loss against the reigning premiers. That result marked the lowest winning margin in the Demon’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

They managed to have the same number of scoring shots after a monster last quarter, which kept the Demons goalless after a 28-point three-quarter time buffer. You can expect them to kick a 100+ point score if they are accurate in front of goal.

Although Hawthorn has lost four of their previous five matches, they have played good football and been in the contest for the most part. I would expect them to win comfortably against their struggling traditional rivals.

Bombers vs Hawks Stats
