Carlton vs Fremantle Preview
The Blues couldn’t get their first win of the season against traditional rivals Collingwood, losing by 21 points.
Despite Carlton leading the clearances and having 12 more inside 50’s, there was little structure to their ball movement inside 50. David Teague will look to focus on the composure moving the ball forward, going at 36.7% against the Magpies.
Their Round 2 loss meant it was the ninth consecutive season they’ve started the season 0-2, although they had a tough start to the season facing the reigning premiers and regular finals contenders Collingwood.
However, they desperately need a win if they want to play finals this season with history not being on their side. Of the last 40 teams to start the season 0-2, five have made finals.
Meanwhile, the Dockers cruised past the Giants to win their first match of the season by 31 points.
Fremantle will be pleased with their clearance numbers this season, despite missing Nat Fyfe and Michael Walters for the majority of the season so far. Both of which are likely to return on the weekend.
The Dockers will be looking for vengeance after they controversially lost after the siren against the Blues last season from a Jack Newnes kick on the boundary.
Although the Blues haven’t got a win this season, I believe they can get the job done against the Dockers on Sunday afternoon.
Blues vs Dockers Team News
Jack Martin and Zac Fisher will both have an extended stint on the sidelines after their respective injuries. However, you can expect Jack Silvagni and Eddie Betts to return to the side.
Michael Walters and Nat Fyfe will be likely inclusions for the Dockers on Sunday.
The two sides last met in Round 12 last season which saw the Blues win by 4 points.
