Dockers vs GWS Preview

The Round 23 fixture sees the 3rd placed GWS outfit host 6th placed Fremantle at ENGIE Stadium in Sydney.

GWS head in as favourites for the Saturday afternoon clash and a win could propel them into the top two if other results go their way, while a loss could see them out of the top four at the end of the round.

Fremantle are on a knives edge and if they lose they could be outside the eight by the conclusion of the round, while a win will most likely see them hold 6th spot or advance to 5th and in reach of a home final.

The Dockers let go of a golden opportunity to find themselves in the top four when they went down to Geelong in Perth last weekend by nine points. That came despite the work of Caleb Serong with three goals and 22 disposals, as well as Luke Ryan (36 disposals).

In the same round, GWS extended their winning streak to six with a come-from-behind victory over Brisbane, edging past the Lions to end the game as three-goal winners. Jesse Hogan, Aaron Cadman and Darcy Jones were multiple goal kickers, while Tom Green and Lachie Whitfield found plenty of the footy.

The Giants have won seven of eight at home against interstate opposition this season. Fremantle have lost three of their past four outside of Perth. Expect that trend to continue on Saturday.
