Hawthorn vs Fremantle Preview

The Hawks weren’t able to come away with the four points against the Power in Shaun Burgoyne’s 400th game.

Hawthorn has improved over the last month, with scalps over top-eight opposition in Sydney and GWS. However, they weren’t able to get into their free-flowing game style against a strict Power outfit.

There was some big news throughout the week, with the announcement of Alastair Clarkson’s departure as part of a succession plan at the end of 2022, with former club legend Sam Mitchell taking over.

Meanwhile, the Dockers two-match winning streak came to an end against the Blues last time out.

Fremantle was made to rue for missed chances against Carlton, kicking 16 behinds juxtaposed to the Blues eight behinds. When the game was on the line in the premiership quarter, they kicked seven behinds from 11 scoring shots.

It was evident they were missing Matt Taberner’s clinical edge in front of goal, which leaves the question if they will be able to kick a winnable score on a high scoring ground in Tasmania.

The midfield was the deciding factor in this meeting earlier in the season, which saw the Dockers prevail by 15 points. It could come down to that again on Saturday afternoon.

Although the Hawks were beaten convincingly last time out, I believe they have what it takes to down the Dockers.

Hawks vs Dockers Team News

The Hawks are set to make two changes with the returns of Mitch Lewis and Denver Grainger-Barras who will return from concussions.

Similarly, Fremantle will make at least two changes with Ethan Hughes and Hayden Young are both set to return from their injuries.

The two sides last met in Round 4 this season, which saw the Dockers win by 15 points.
