Fremantle vs Port Adelaide Preview
Fremantle host Port Adelaide in the final home and away match of the 2024 season and there is plenty at stake for the two sides.
Fremantle sit in 9th position on the ladder and will need either Carlton, Hawthorn or the Western Bulldogs to lose one of the preceding matches in Round 24. Should a spot open up, the Dockers can sneak back inside the eight.
Port Adelaide sit in 2nd position on the ladder and a victory will lock in a home final but a loss may see them have to travel in the first week of the finals, depending on other results.
The Power have won their past five matches and come off a 22-point win over their local rivals, Adelaide, in Round 23. Zak Butters starred with 42 disposals, while Jason Horne Francis had 23 of his own and two goals. The win came at a cost with Dan Houston suspended for his hit on Izak Rankine.
On the same weekend, Fremantle lost their spot in the eight, courtesy of a nine-point loss at the hands of GWS. The Dockers have now lost three games in a row with those coming by less than two goals.
Injuries have come at the wrong time and Justin Longmuir’s side will be sweating on the fitness of Josh Treacy and Sam Darcy. The plus side is that the Dockers enjoy the home ground advantage and are three from four over the Power at Perth Stadium. They can get over the line in a close one and with any luck, sneak back into the eight.
Dockers vs Power Stats
