Fremantle vs Western Bulldogs Preview

A poor start for the Dockers set the tone for a disappointing night against Port Adelaide.

Fremantle conceded 47 points at quarter-time without kicking a major themselves until the second quarter. They were able to salvage what could have been an embarrassing scoreline in the second half.

They will be boosted by the return of Matt Taberner, who missed last week’s clash against the Power. He has been a consistent spearhead for the Dockers this season, kicking 27 goals.

Meanwhile, the Western Bulldogs lost their top of the table clash against the Demons by 28 points last time out.

The Dogs were left frustrated at the stability and durability of the Melbourne defence throughout the match on Friday night. They were left to a season-low 34.6% efficiency inside 50, with Jake Lever and Steen May blocking their attacking endeavours.

A win on Sunday night could see them return to the top of the ladder if the Lions beat the Demons on Friday night. The Dockers have had their issues with defenders being fit this season, so it will be an opportunity for Luke Beveridge to isolate his forward line to make the most out of his tall brigade.

Although the Dockers hold the home ground advantage, I believe the Bulldogs have too much firepower to overrun them.

Dockers vs Dogs Team News

The Dockers have named four inclusions with Griffin Logue, Joel Western, Matt Taberner and Reece Conca into the side, with Sam Switkowski missing with an injury.

The Bulldogs will miss Riley Garcia and Lachlan McNeil for this clash. Whilst Anthony Scott, Mitch Hannan, Rhylee West, Ryan Gardner and Stefan Martin have all been named.

*Teams are yet to be reduced to 22, four omissions still need to be made from the eight-man bench.

The two sides last met in Round 18 last season which saw the Dogs win by 30 points.
