Carlton vs Geelong Preview

The Blues made it back-to-back wins after downing the Dockers by 16 points last time out.

Despite claiming a valuable four points, David Teague wouldn’t be exactly pleased with his side’s performance, which could’ve easily gone the other way if Fremantle took their chances.

Carlton has a tough run home and will want to make the most out of a disappointing season, with coaches and players under the limelight as part of the external review.

Meanwhile, the Cats cruised past the Bombers by 41 points in wet conditions.

Chris Scott’s side started the match second best and looked like an upset was on the cards. However, an eight-goal second term that saw them kick 50 points gave them a handy lead which they extended throughout the match.

Geelong suffered a major injury setback against the Bombers, with star recruit Jeremy Cameron reinjuring his hamstring, which could likely see him miss a big chunk of the rest of the home and away season.

They will have to slightly alter their forward line dynamic. Tom Hawkins will rely on his teammates to leave space for him in one-on-one contests where he can strive. Jacob Weitering vs Hawkins will be a match-up to look out for.

Although the Blues have won two matches on the trot, Geelong is favourites for a reason and should comfortably claim the four points.

Blues vs Cats Team News

The Blues will have Zac Williams and Zac Fisher available as they prepare for a tough challenge on Saturday.

Geelong will have to replace Jeremy Cameron who suffered another hamstring injury. This will most likely see Esava Ratugolea come back into the side, whilst tagger Mark O’Connor should be fit to play.

The two sides last met in Round 3 last season, which saw the Blues win by two points.
