Collingwood vs Geelong Preview

This shapes as a beauty to open up Round 22 and Collingwood will be out to bounce back after dropping their past two matches. Those have come against Carlton and Hawthorn. Last week it was a 32-point loss to the Hawks, which came at a cost with the Brownlow Medal fancy, Nick Daicos, going down with a knee injury

The key playmaker will be out for up to six weeks and Nathan Murphy is likely to join him on the sidelines for this week. Jack Crisp, Scott Pendlebury and Jordan de Goey were among a few players that troubled Hawthorn and the Pies coaching staff have a few problems to solve heading into this one.

Geelong bounced back from a Round 20 defeat to Fremantle by accounting for an undermanned Port Adelaide outfit at GMHBA Stadium by 12 points last weekend.

The Cats provided plenty of run and quick ball movement from the back end of the ground. Patrick Dangerfield and Grian Myers were instrumental, while Tom Stewart provided plenty of rebound from the back half.

A win for Geelong will be vital in their quest to make the eight with games against St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs to come. They are in 9th position on the ladder. Collingwood remain two games clear of their challengers and a win will lock up top spot and a home final. This one should go right down to the wire.
