North Melbourne vs Geelong Preview

The Kangaroos cruised past the lacklustre Blues by 39 points to keep their hopes of not winning the wooden spoon alive.

It’s a bit of a purple patch for the Roos in a disappointing campaign. They’ve won three of their last five matches, and if they are going to get one past the Cats now would be the time. However, they will be without star midfielder Ben Cunnington, who has undergone surgery for a testicular tumour.

Nick Larkey was having a hard time of things this season, but he stood tall against an in-form Carlton defence, kicking a career-best seven goals. He will have to have help from his teammates to eliminate the strong intercept game of the Cats.

Meanwhile, the Cats defeated the reigning premiers by 38 points to jump to second on the ladder, only behind the Dogs on percentage.

An explosive second quarter saw them go into the half with a 41-point lead and restricting the Tigers to just only one goal. The accurate Cats will only rue that they didn’t win by a larger margin.

It will be Geelong’s first game in Tasmania since 2007, when they lost to the Hawks in Launceston. They will have a chance to go onto the top of the ladder with a large victory here.

Geelong has the experience and form to go all the way this season, and they should comfortably win this match despite the Kangaroos winning big last time out.

Kangaroos vs Cats Team News

The Roos will likely make two changes with Jack Mahoney and Robbie Tarrant recovering from their respective injuries. Tarryn Thomas will be one to miss after suffering a concussion last week.

Gryan Miers will likely miss out with injury. However, veteran Shaun Higgins should return after missing last week with soreness.

The two sides last met in Round 5 last season, which saw the Roos win by 30 points.
