Gold Coast vs Port Adelaide Preview

The Suns will be looking to return to the winner’s circle after a disappointing loss to an undermanned Fremantle outfit.

Gold Coast was lacklustre in Matt Rowell’s return in what was a must-win game to keep their slim finals hopes alive.

They will be hungry to end their run of four defeats in their last five matches, coming against St Kilda (nine points), Brisbane (73 points), Geelong (34 points) and Fremantle (27 points).

They simply weren’t able to get their hands on the ball against the Dockers, so you can expect them to maintain possession when possible on Saturday. However, Touk Miller has been superb recently, having 30+ disposals in his last five matches.

Meanwhile, the Power will be looking to return to the top four for the first time since Round 8.

Ken Hinkley’s men found themselves on the wrong side of a seesawing encounter against the Cats. Despite having momentum at the start of the last term and gaining a two-goal lead, they struggled to contain the lethal Geelong forward line.

However, this week will be a bit easier with Aliir Aliir having the job on young forward Ben King. Aliir will the physical advantage over King and could give a hand in his side keeping the Suns to a low score.

Gold Coast have a lot of depth in the midfield, so Ollie Wines and Travis Boak will have to lead the line for the Power to get first use of the ball for their forwards to have the best chance.

Connor Rozee made the most out of that against the Cats, kicking five majors, including four in the first quarter.

Although the Suns have the home advantage, I believe the Power will be too strong and physical for the young and in-experienced outfit. Charlie Dixon was also influential kicking four.

Suns vs Power Team News

Sam Collins should return from an ankle injury, whilst it will be hard to look past rewarding Brayden Fiorini who had 45 disposals in the VFL.

Scott Lycett will return from his four-match suspension to face the Suns on Saturday.

The two sides last met in Round 1 last season which saw the Power win by 47 points.
