Giants vs Kangaroos Preview
GWS head into this as strong favourites and will head in full of confidence after knocking over last year’s premiers, Collingwood, in the opening round.
The Giants cleared out to win by 32 points and displayed plenty of firepower up forward with Callum Brown, Jesse Hogan and Brent Daniels combining for 13 goals. Lachie Whitfield, Josh Kelly and Tom Green all registered 30+ disposals.
North Melbourne are one of 10 sides that did not play in the opening round. The Kangaroos head in with just the one practice match under their belt, suffering a 19-point loss to St Kilda. They trailed the finalists from 2023 by just three points at the last break.
Jye Simpkin suffered a concussion in that hitout and will miss, while Aidan Corr and Luke McDonald are expected to be on the sidelines with niggles. The Kangas will be relying a lot on Nick Markey and Cam Zurhaar up forward, while Zaine Duursma and Colby McKercher are a couple of young guns worth keeping an eye on.
