Adelaide vs Hawthorn Preview

The Crows were lacklustre against the Eagles in their heavy 42-point defeat last time out.

Adelaide simply didn’t have the experience and quality to run over the top of West Coast. Their game-plan and ball movement were stagnant throughout stages and they struggled to get the game on their terms.

They will look to start the game well and get it on their terms early on, with vengeance in their mind after suffering a three-point defeat earlier in the season.

Matthew Nick’s midfield will have to go toe to toe against the physical Eagles midfield, as they look to get first use of the ball out of the middle and find Taylor Walker, who has been one of the most damaging forwards in the competition, particularly one on one.

Meanwhile, the Hawks salvaged a draw against the top of the table Demons.

Although Hawthorn has had some rumoured off-field trouble between Alastair Clarkson and soon to be coach Sam Mitchell in the previous week, it didn’t reflect on the team’s performance.

The Hawks were behind by as much as 27 points during the second quarter but dug deep and slowly grinded their way back into the match. They will have a chance to leapfrog the Crows on Saturday night.

The chopping and changing of the venue will be a huge factor in the result of this tie, and considering the game is at Marvel Stadium, I’ll back the Hawks in this encounter.

Crows vs Hawks Team News

Tom Doedee and Riley Thilthorpe will return to the team. Whilst Nick Murray will miss after suffering a concussion last week.

The Hawks will have two big inclusions, with Blake Hardwick and Chad Wingard set to return to the side.

The two sides last met in Round 6 this season, which saw the Hawks win by three points.
