Western Bulldogs vs Hawthorn Preview

The Western Bulldogs have the chance to win back-to-back matches for just the second time this season to keep themselves in the hunt for the race of the top eight. It’s already a must-win match considering how tough their run home is.

It was an incredible performance against their rivals in what was the highest-scoring match of the season so far, which saw 230 points kicked. Although, it did come at a cost, with versatile ruckman Tim English suffering a concussion, ruling him out for this clash.

Meanwhile, Hawthorn lost their third successive defeat and their seventh loss in their last eight matches despite their best efforts against the Dockers on the road. They eventually fell to a narrow 13-point loss before the bye.

A week off for Sam Mitchell’s young outfit could prove pivotal in the result, considering the extent of the Dog’s win last weekend. However, they will need to tighten up defensively. So, you can expect to see a more congested corridor and forward 50.

Luke Beveridge’s side enters the match as the favourites, and it’s clear to see why. I don’t see the Hawks prevailing in this contest, but they will be eager to prove the doubters wrong and relish the underdog status.
