Hawthorn vs Western Bulldogs Preview

The Hawks can make it three wins on the trot after downing the Magpies by 19 points last time out.

Hawthorn continued their dominant record against Collingwood in recent history, with their ability to control the game on their terms being a particular highlight for Alastair Clarkson.

It’s a chance for the Hawks to give a chance to some more young guns against the competitions best, with nothing on the line for the remainder of the season.

Two of the biggest ball magnets in the competition this season will go head-to-head in an intriguing midfield battle on Saturday. Both players lead the competition for disposals and effective disposals.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs fell from the top of the ladder after a shock loss against the Bombers by 13 points.

After the first quarter, it looked to be a good day at the office for Luke Beveridge and his side. However, missed chances and the midfield dominance from the Bombers cost them their spot on top of the ladder.

A costly ACL injury in the last seconds of the match for Josh Bruce deprives the Dogs of their best avenue for goal this season. Bruce sits second in the Coleman race with 48 goals.

So, it will be interesting how they approach their forward line dynamic heading into finals. Tim English and Aaron Naughton could see more forward minutes, with Jordon Sweet being the number one ruckman.

Although the Dogs uncharacteristically lost last time out, I can’t see them falling in this one and should win comfortably, as they look to head into their optimistic finals campaign in good spirits.

Hawks vs Dogs Team News

The Hawks will be forced to make at least one change with James Worpel suffering a foot injury last week. Ollie Hanrahan could be a possible replacement.

Josh Bruce suffered an ACL injury in the dying seconds of the match against Essendon and will miss the rest of the season. Cody Weightman and mitch Hannan look set to return, whilst Jordon Sweet could come in to create another forward option.

The two sides last met in Round 17 last season, which saw the Dogs win by 36 points.
