Melbourne vs Hawthorn Preview

The Demons were impressive, downing the Power at Adelaide Oval by 31 points last time out.

Melbourne made the most out of their momentum in the first half to give them a handy buffer to finish the match. After a season-low against the Giants, it was important for them to bounce back.

Simon Goodwin will look to isolate his tall forwards, with the Demons having a considerable size advantage. Although Ben Brown was goalless, he showed positive signs, whilst Tom McDonald kicked three goals.

Meanwhile, the Hawks were lacklustre in their 62-point smashing at the hands of the Dockers.

It wasn’t the fairy tale start to Alastair Clarkson’s succession plan, with his side being dominated in the midfield and eventually the scoreboard. If they fail to win on Saturday, they could fall to the bottom of the ladder.

The loss wasn’t the only concerning thing to come from that result. Injuries to defenders Changkuoth Jiath and Jack Scrimshaw will be costly as they lose their pace off half-back.

Melbourne have been one of the premier sides of the competition so far this season, and they should comfortably win this match as well on Saturday evening.

Demons vs Hawks Team News

The Demons will make minimal to no changes heading into Saturday with a very healthy squad.

The Hawks will have to make at least two changes with Changkuoth Jiath and Jack Scrimshaw suffering injuries against Fremantle. Blake Hardwick should return to the side after being a late withdrawal last week with hamstring tightness.

The two sides last met in Round 5 this season, which saw the Demons win by 50 points.
