Melbourne vs Hawthorn Preview

Melbourne maintained their undefeated start to 2022 as they look to defend last season’s premiership campaign. Although, it wasn’t the prettiest of wins last time out against the Tigers on ANZAC Eve.

If it wasn’t for the inaccuracy from Simon Goodwin’s outfit, they could’ve won by a much greater margin considering they piled on 17 more scoring shots than Richmond. Nevertheless, they don’t look like losing a game as they continue to dominate all facets of the game.

Meanwhile, the Hawks fell to 3-3 after failing to repeat their heroics on Easter Monday. They got off to the best start possible, booting the first five goals of the match, and despite leading at the beginning of the final term, they lost by seven goals.

It was obvious that they missed Mitch Lewis in the forward line on ANZAC Day, but they could see him return to the side, along with Changkouth Jiath off the half-back. Jake Lever and Jack Viney look to be the inclusions for the Demons.

Melbourne’s winning run has now been extended to 13 matches, the second-longest in the club’s long history. I don’t see that run ending at the MCG on Saturday evening, although the Hawks have the potential to cause a shock upset, which they threatened to do in last season’s draw between the two sides.
