Melbourne vs Brisbane Preview

The Demons asserted their dominance in the competition with a commanding 28-point triumph over the Western Bulldogs.

Melbourne started the match superbly, kicking 41 points in the first quarter. They were able to frustrate the Bulldogs ball movement to create easy turnovers, which they capitalised on.

Simon Goodwin’s side has become by far the best intercept team in the competition, and that is where the majority of their score has been generated off.  Jake Lever and Sam May will have to be crucial in that against a Brisbane side that is the equal best goal scoring team in the league.

Meanwhile, the Lions won their sixth match on the trot against the Giants by 64 points last time out.

Brisbane have become the most in-form side in the competition, beating Port Adelaide (49 points), Richmond (28 points) and most recently GWS (64 points), progressing their way to third on the ladder.

It’s been the midfield that’s been impressive without Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale, and they will have to have an influence on Friday night to get any positive result.

Hugh McCluggage is having a breakout season and is paying at good odds in the race for the Brownlow. Jarryd Lyons has been consistent, and the unpredictable nature of Mitch Robinson has been crucial in the Lions recent large victories.

It will be a huge match at TIO Traeger Park, with both sides in brilliant form. However, I believe the Lions could come out on top in a tight contest.

Demons vs Lions Team News

The Demons will be forced to make at least one change with Ed Langdon suffering a concussion. Nathan Jones will be available for selection and could come into the side.

After an impressive six weeks and a monster win against the Giants last time out, you can expect them to be unchanged for this tie.

The two sides last met in Round 8 last season which saw the Lions win by four points.
