Melbourne vs Brisbane Preview
Melbourne has fallen to their third successive following a historic run of 17 consecutive victories. All three of their losses against Fremantle (38 points), Sydney (12 points) and Collingwood (26 points) have come at the MCG.
The highest score they kicked during that time was a mere 61 points. It’s obvious that they are having some attacking issues, and the costly injury to captain Max Gawn won’t help their case. So, it’s time that the fringe tall forwards of the reigning premiers have a statement-making performance.
Elsewhere, Brisbane returned to winning ways in a low-scoring contest against the Saints to move above this weekend’s opponent on the ladder. They are now seven wins from seven at the Gabba but only 50% on the road.
Recent history doesn’t bode for them well either, having lost their previous nine matches at the MCG, something they will have to rectify before finals come around. In fact, it will be their first match at the MCG this season.
It’s poised to be one of the contests of the season and made even sweeter with a position on the top of the ladder on the line. I believe it could be the Lions that get the job done to pile the misery on the reigning premiers.
