Melbourne v Tigers Preview
Sunday AFL action sees Richmond take on Melbourne at the MCG and the Tigers will be looking to continue their charge towards September with an upset win over the 4th placed Demons.
Andrew McQualter’s side have won six of their past seven matches and sit in 10th position on the ladder with only percentage separating them from 8th placed Geelong. The Tigers came back from 30 points down to overwhelm Hawthorn in Round 19, getting up by one point, courtesy of a Liam Baker late snap at goal.
Melbourne also escaped with a close win of their on in Round 19, holding off Adelaide by four points at the MCG with Jack Viney, Christian Petracca and Angus Brayshaw all influential, picking up 25+ disposals.
That trio take on a Richmond midfield that boasts, Tim Taranto, who was one of the best in the win last week with three goals and 23 disposals, while Dion Prestia had 28 disposals. Melbourne head into this as favourites but it is hard to split these two. Given what is at stake, I expect the Demons to scrape through in what should be an entertaining affair at the home of footy.
