Tigers vs Saints Preview

St Kilda will be looking to add some respectability to their 2024 win-loss record when they square off against Richmond at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After playing finals in 2023, the Saints have been a tad disappointing this season, winning eight of their 20 matches, sitting in 14th spot.

Ross Lyon’s side were totally outclassed in Round 21 by the Brisbane Lions, going down to the 2023 runners’ up by 85 points. Josh Battle and Jack Sinclair played well but the Saints lacked the system going forward, as well as the firepower inside 50, booting just five goals for the match.

Things have been worse at Richmond with the Tigers managing to win just two matches this season. Adem Yze’s side have dropped their past seven and went down to the fellow cellar dwellers, North Melbourne, by 13 points in Round 21.

Injuries have taken their toll at Punt Road this season and a lot will rest in the hands of Dion Prestia, Tim Taranto and Liam Baker if they are to register their third win of the season. Prior to the Lions loss, St Kilda defeated both Essendon and West Coast by more than 50 points. If they can recapture some of that form early in the game, they should be hard to hold out.
