Hawthorn vs Richmond Preview

Damien Hardwick’s team has seemed to find their groove, with back-to-back wins for the first time this season after wins against West Coast (109 points) and most recently Collingwood (27 points).

They cruised to victory on the weekend off the back of Tom Lynch’s 25 disposal and six-goal performance, boosting him to the top of the Coleman race with 27 goals this season. He could be in for another big bag on the weekend, considering Peter Wright also kicked six on the Hawthorn defence.

Meanwhile, Hawthorn is in desperate need of the four points to not let their heads drop following their fifth defeat in the last six matches against the undermanned Bombers last time out.

Despite leading by as much as five goals during the third term, Sam Mitchell’s side conceded a 50-point last quarter to lose by 27 points. It was a similar story last season when they led by as much as 31 points halfway through the last term to only end up drawing the match.

Considering both side’s current form heading into Saturday afternoon’s clash at the MCG, I’ll have to back the Tigers to get the job done and pile the misery onto the young Hawks outfit.
