Richmond vs West Coast Preview

This shapes as a golden opportunity for Richmond in their unlikely quest to play finals this year. The Tigers sit in 11th spot on the ladder and have won four of their six matches since Andrew McQualter took over as head coach from Damien Hardwick.

In Round 17, Richmond handed Sydney a 13-point defeat and that was on the beak of a best on ground performance from Shai Bolton, who had 31 disposals and nine clearances, while Dustin Martin and Toby Nankervis were also instrumental. Nankervis will miss this week’s contest due to suspension.

On the same weekend it was another big loss for the West Coast Eagles, who were opened up early by the Brisbane Lions in a game where the effort that they exhibited the week before against St Kilda was not as evident.

They will need to make sure there is more support for the likes of Tim Kelly, who amassed more than 25 disposals once again last weekend, while Liam Duggan (33) and Jayden Hunt (27) were also amongst the action.

But it is Richmond that are the hungry side and we can expect them to dominate the contested possession count and stoppage clearances, while their pressure will make it hard for the home side to kick a competitive score.

Tigers vs Eagles Stats

  • Richmond have won their past three matches against West Coast by an average margin of 66 points.

  • The Tigers rank 12th for goals scored this season, West Coast are 18th.
  • West Coast have failed to cover the line in six of their past seven matches at Optus Stadium
