Richmond vs West Coast Preview
West Coast take on Richmond in the final match of AFL Round 5 and the Eagles will be out to register their first win of season 2024. Adam Simpson’s side have lost all four of their matches with those coming at an average margin of 54 points.
But their loyal army of fans can take some hope in the fact that their side produced their best performance of the season last weekend when going down to Sydney by 26 points, while their opposition for this clash, Richmond, have won just one of five matches.
Adem Yze’s side come off a seven-point loss against a St Kilda side that were missing a number of their best 22 players due to injury. They will be relying on their big names to do the job, including Dustin Martin and Shai Bolton. They were the stars for the Tigers in their loss to the Saints.
West Coast led Sydney early in the second half of their Gather Round match before conceding nine of the last 13 goals of the game. Jeremy McGovern, Elliot Yeo and Liam Duggan al had 25+ disposals, while Jake Waterman and Jamie Cripps combined for four goals.
Adam Simpson’s side will need to get off to a fast start if they are to score an upset. Despite some promising signs last weekend it is hard to see them getting the points in this clash but it will be a tight one for the Tigers in their quest to notch up their second win of the season.
