St Kilda vs Geelong Preview

St Kilda suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this season, following losses against Port Adelaide (one point) and Melbourne (38 points). The most disappointing aspect is that they failed to score more than 60 points in those matches.

The Saints never really found their way back into the contest since late in the first term and simply struggled to get their hands on the footy to create meaningful opportunities in the forward half, going at 36.4% inside 50.

Meanwhile, the Cats returned to the winner’s circle in a workmanlike performance against the Giants by 53 points. They managed to hold GWS to a mere 35 points despite being on the road.

Jeremy Cameron enjoyed another field day, booting five goals to move his tally to 24. Whilst his counterpart Tom Hawkins has 23. Cameron was influential in the last meeting, kicking four goals in a 14-point win.

Geelong has a dominant recent record against the Saints, winning the previous six meetings, and I believe that record will continue at Marvel Stadium on Saturday evening.

Saints vs Cats Stats

  • St Kilda have won two matches on the trot
  • Geelong have a WLWLW pattern in their last five matches
