GWS vs St Kilda Preview and Prediction

GWS is looking for a much-improved season after missing finals last season despite making the Grand Final the season prior.

After being a consistent finals side in previous years, the Giants will take that as the benchmark for the season ahead. They have bolstered their forward stocks with the inclusion of Jesse Hogan to replace Jeremy Cameron.

It will be a big year for Giant’s skipper Stephen Coniglio who found hub life tough going last season, being controversially dropped against the Demons last year.

Meanwhile, St Kilda will be aiming to contend for the top four this season after making their first finals appearance in 10 years last season.

The Saints improved their list once again in the off-season, acquiring Brad Crouch and Jack Higgins, who are both likely to feature on Sunday. Another finals campaign is on the cards in 2021.

The explosive ruck duo of Rowan Marshall and Paddy Ryder was a feature of Brett Ratten’s game plan last season, and with both of those missing for the start of the season, the ground level contest will be a particular area of concern.

This game is hard to predict, but I believe on home turf the Giants can get the job done.

Giants vs Saints Team News

There are a few injury concerns at the Giants, with Jesse Hogan, Lachie Whitfield and Jake Riccardi all being big names to miss Round 1.

The Saints will be without Max King after being struck in the head by a golf ball playing golf last week. However, Zak Jones will be available for selection.

The two sides last met in Round 18 last season which saw the Saints defeat the Giants by 52 points.
