St Kilda vs Hawthorn Tips

  • Tom Mitchell has had a quiet start to 2022 by his standards, but in his last four games against the Saints, he’s racked up 38, 27 (shortened game in 2020), 33, 45 and 35
  • Tim Membrey has kicked 31.13 from 13 games at the MCG and kicked 2.2 against the Hawks last time the two sides met. Accuracy was an issue against the dockers in Round 2 as he kicked three behinds, but three goals in each of his other two games suggests he can keep scoring this week

Hawthorn vs St Kilda Preview

Hawthorn will be eager to return to winning ways after suffering a heart-breaking one-point defeat against the undefeated Blues at this stadium in their last outing.

Nevertheless, it was still a promising result considering they were almost able to rectify a deficit of 41 points. They looked most dangerous when Changkuoth Jiath spring boarded off half-back through the corridor, something that has been utilised more from Sam Mitchell as coach.

Meanwhile, the Saints made it back-to-back triumphs with wins against Fremantle (10 points) and most recently the Tigers (33 points). It was amazing they were able to win by that margin considering they headed into the last term 25 points down.

If they are to reach the heights that is expected of them and play finals football, they have to win matches like these in order to solidify their claims. Max King was one to silence his doubters, booting four last-quarter goals in his sides come from behind victory.

It’s a tough match to predict considering the early season form of both sides this season, but I believe the Hawks are playing an honest and strong brand of football that could see them get over the line on Sunday.
