West Coast vs St Kilda Preview

The Eagles returned to winning ways with a comfortable 42-point triumph over the Crows.

West Coast needed a win in style to not only claim a much-needed four points and percentage boost but also for some confidence after three losses on the trot against the Western Bulldogs (55 points), Sydney (92 points) and North Melbourne (10 points).

They will have a considerable size advantage in the forward half of the ground assuming Josh Kennedy returns to the side following his late omission against Adelaide last week. Both Kennedy and Darling have handsome goalscoring records against the Saints and will most influence on the result.

Meanwhile, the Saints three-match winning streak was ended against the top four Power last time out.

Brett Ratten wouldn’t be too displeased about that performance whatsoever, with neither side able to take full control in a highly pressured contest. However, it was a blow to their final’s chances.

In this tie earlier in the season, the Eagles lead by as much as six goals in the third term, but a second-half midfield dominance saw the Saints claim one of the wins of the season. St Kilda generates a lot of scores from stoppages this season and will need to win that battle on Saturday.

This is a huge tie in terms of the race for the final two finals spots, and considering the home ground advantage, I believe the Eagles could reign supreme.

Eagles vs Saints Team News

Josh Kennedy will return for the Eagles after being a late out last week, whilst Luke Shuey will be touch and go.

St Kilda will be having to make at least three changes, with Rowan Marshall, Tom Highmore and Dan McKenzie all unavailable. Jack Lonie and James Frawley will be the most likely to return to the side.

The two sides last met in Round 4 this season, which saw the Saints win by 20 points.
