Sydney vs Geelong Preview

Sydney secured the bragging rights in their season-opening clash against local-rivals GWS by 20 points in one of the matches of the round. Luke Parker was a standout, equalling a career-high five goals and gathering 21 disposals.

The most recent meeting between these two sides at the SCG last season was a manic spectacle that will be replayed over and over in the lead up to this match. Sydney came out on top after a late Tom Papley goal and controversial non-mark decision for Jeremy Cameron.

All eyes will be on Lance Franklin, who is edging closer to the 1,000 career goal milestone. He currently sits on 996 after kicking one goal against the Giants last week.

Meanwhile, Geelong looked like an unstoppable force against a lacklustre Essendon outfit in their Round 1 match. An 11-goal win couldn’t have been a better start to the season for Chris Scott’s side.

Patrick Dangerfield looked as if he’s returned to his best and has quickly risen in the odds as Brownlow contender again. However, they will be without star forward Cameron, who suffered a nasty hip injury in a marking contest with Jayden Laverde.

This is going to be a prime-time match that you will not want to miss and looks destined to be another tight tussle on Friday night. Unlike last year, I believe the Cats will come out on top.
