Western Bulldogs vs Sydney Preview

The Western Bulldogs have gotten off to the worst start possible in their 2022 campaign, suffering two defeats against the reigning premiers and most recently, the optimistic Blues.

It’s not as if they didn’t have the opportunity to win the game, kicking 2.7 in the last quarter to almost salvage a seven-goal deficit. They can put that down to a poor midfield display in the second term, which saw them concede seven goals.

It’s obvious that the Bulldogs will need a lot of goals from their stacked midfield crop this season, with a lot of the load falling on Aaron Naughton.

Meanwhile, the Swans have had opposite fortunes to start the season and currently remain undefeated following impressive triumphs against local rivals GWS (20 points) and Geelong (30 points).

The obvious highlight was Buddy Franklin sending the SCG into raptures after booting his 1,000th career goal in a strong team performance, with Isaac Heeney the standout, kicking five goals.

Despite both sides being on opposite spectrums of the ladder after two rounds, I don’t see last year’s Grand Finalists starting the season 0-3. So, I believe the Dogs could claim their first four points of the season.
