Collingwood vs West Coast Preview

The Magpies were resilient in their 28-point defeat at the hands of the Power last time out.

After being in front for the majority of the first half, they found themselves 31 points down in the premiership quarter. However, they made two fightbacks to get within singles digits, but Mark Harvey’s side couldn’t quite get over the line.

With no chance of finals football this season for Collingwood, it will all be about the development of their young stars coming up in the ranks, with a rebuild certainly on the cards.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have made it two wins on the trot, with a narrow victory against the Saints.

West Coast’s two consecutive wins have surely all but secured their spot in the top eight. They currently sit eight points clear of ninth position and face two sides inside the top four in their final four matches.

The battle between Nic Naitanui and Brodie Grundy will be the match-up of the round, with whoever can get on top on the day having a big influence on the result. Grundy will need to perform better than ever with leader Scott Pendlebury missing in the midfield with a fractured leg.

The battle between these two sides has been an intriguing one since the 2018 Grand Final, with three wins to West Coast and two to Collingwood. I believe the Eagles will extend that buffer on Saturday evening.

Magpies vs Eagles Team News

The Magpies are set for a host of changes, but they will be forced to make one with Scott Pendlebury fracturing his leg. Jeremy Howe, Chris Mayne and Will Hoskin-Elliott be set to return from injury.

Similarly, the Eagles will also be forced to make one change with Liam Ryan suffering an injury last week.

The two sides last met in Round 5 this season, which saw the Eagles win by 27 points.
