West Coast vs Melbourne Preview

The Eagles fell to a shock loss against Collingwood by 45 points last time out.

West Coast’s interstate curse came to fruition again, in an embarrassing performance, which saw them kick two goals in the first three-quarters of the match. They will need to have a stellar midfield performance if they are any chance of a result on Monday night.

If they can cause an upset against the Demons on Monday night, they would surely secure their spot in finals football this season. The Eagles have hosted both Monday night games this season, with a loss against the bottom of the ladder Kangaroos.

Meanwhile, the Demons dominated the Suns to win by the biggest margin they have all season against any side.

After question marks rose of Melbourne’s top-four credentials, they were quickly silenced when they dismantled Gold Coast, with their constant pressure and smart ball movement.

Although Simon Goodwin’s side has dropped a lot of points recently, they have only lost once against sides in the top eight this season. That trend is set to continue on Monday.

The Eagles have had a strong home record in recent years, but I can’t see Melbourne dropping the four points in this one.

Eagles vs Demons Team News

Xavier O’Neill has been omitted by Adam Simpson. Whilst, Alex Witherden, Jackson Nelson, Luke Edwards and Nathan Vardy have been named as inclusions.

Jack Viney will miss with a two-match suspension for violent conduct on Sam Collins last week. All four inclusions have been named in the extended bench.

*Teams are yet to be reduced to 22, four omissions still need to be made from the eight-man bench.

The two sides last met in Round 8 this season, which saw the Power win by 49 points.
