West Coast vs Melbourne Preview

Melbourne travel to the west and will be looking to bounce back after suffering a one-point loss to Carlton in Round 9. The Demons were slow out of the blocks in that match before wearing their opponents down late, only to fall short by the narrowest of margins.

Simon Goodwin’s side are 4th on the ladder as we head to the midpoint of the season and are one of four sides with a win-loss record of 6-3.

West Coast are 2-7 and sit in 16th spot. They were exciting the winning two straight games last month but have since dropped their past three and were no match for Collingwood in Round 9, going down to the premiers by 66 points.

The dreaded injury curse is beginning to strike the Eagles again with Jack Petrucelle and Jeremy McGovern going down in the Magpies game. Elliot Yeo, Jake Waterman and Oscar Allen are some big names already on the sidelines.

Given the lack of depth at the Eagles, it is Melbourne that can capitalise. Expect big games from Max Gawn and Christian Petracca, while Bailey Fritsch and Kysaiah Pickett should be able to impact the scoreboard more this week after registering just one goal apiece in the loss to the Blues.
