Geelong vs Western Bulldogs Preview

The Cats are currently the most in-form team in the competition with their win against the Power their sixth on the trot.

In what was an arm-wrestle against Port Adelaide, an exciting last quarter saw Geelong kick six of the 10 goals in the quarter to drag them over the line in a four-goal triumph, which put them one game ahead of fourth down to seventh.

Chris Scott has had his fair share of decent sides whilst coaching Geelong for the best part of a decade, but it feels different this time around. Ten players last time out were over 30 years of age, proving that age is just a number.

As we get closer and closer to the business end of the season, the experience of the Cats will be vital in securing a valuable top-four spot in what is an extremely close ladder.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs will have the advantage of a week off, having the bye last round after returning to the winner’s circle against the Dockers before that.

It was important for the Dogs to bounce back with a win after losing to the top of the table Demons. Tall forward Aaron Naughton could have killed the tie throughout many periods of the game, but he kicked 1.5 in their 28-point victory.

As they approach this week, a loss against Geelong will bring them equal on points in second position. Luke Beveridge’s side will be looking to make a statement against a side they could ultimately face in the 2021 finals series.

The Cats are one of the most experienced sides in the competition and should get the job done on home turf in a close contest.

Cats vs Dogs Team News

The Cats will be boosted in the midfield with the return of Cam Guthrie from his shoulder injury. Luke Dahlhaus may be the unlucky one to miss out.

Easton Wood is close to a return for the Bulldogs, which will be helpful against the potent Cats talls.

The two sides last met in Round 14 last season which saw the Cats win by 11 points.
