Geelong vs Western Bulldogs Preview

Geelong’s hopes of playing finals ended last weekend when they went down to St Kilda by 33 points. The Cats were well beaten in the midfield against the Saints and lacked the dash on the outside.

Patrick Dangerfield is one player that will be looking to respond after gathering just 13 disposals, while Jeremy Cameron is another after he went goalless, failing to back up his heroics against Collingwood from the week beforehand.

The Western Bulldogs were knocked over in one of the upsets of the season, going down to the West Coast Eagles by seven points. That loss saw them drop out of the top eight. They will need to win this game and rely on Carlton to defeat GWS in order to make the finals.

The loss has put pressure on Luke Beveridge. Marcus Bontempelli and Adam Treloar both had 32 disposals, while Rory Lobb booted three goals. But it was slim pickings after that.

The Dogs should enjoy an advantage in the midfield with Tim English giving first use, while Beveridge will look for his players to shut down the likes of Tom Stewart and Zach Tuohy with that defensive pair among Geelong’s better players last weekend.

Hard to split these two but it is the Bulldogs that get the nod with a number of key Cats out with injury, including Jeremy Cameron, Tom Hawkins, Mark Blicavs and Gary Rohan.
