Western Bulldogs vs GWS Giants Preview

The Round 24 clash pits two of the top eight contenders up against one another and the result will have a major impact on the final make-up of the ladder.

GWS sit in 3rd position and a win could secure them a home final. The Western Bulldogs are on a knives edge in 6th position. A win will guarantee Luke Beveridge’s side a spot in the top eight but a loss leaves them in danger of missing, depending on other results later in the day.

The Giants come into this on a seven-match winning streak and edged out Fremantle last weekend to the tune of nine points. Jesse Hogan booted six goals, stitching up the Coleman Medal in the process, while Brent Daniels and Tom Green both had huge matches.

On the same weekend, the Western Bulldogs had a day out against North Melbourne, cruising to a 96-point win. Sam Darcy produced a career-best display with seven goals, while Adam Treloar and Marcus Bontempelli found plenty of the footy.

Hard to split these two sides and the midfield battle will be interesting, while conversion in the front half will be a factor. The Bulldogs claimed the most recent encounter between the two sides by 27-points, which was back in Round 10 this year at Engie Stadium. That margin could have been more were it not for some inaccuracy in front of goal.
