West Coast vs Western Bulldogs Preview

The Eagles won a heart-stopping game against the reigning premiers by four points last time out.

West Coast were 22-points down midway through the final term, but a resilient surge topped off by a brilliant Josh Kennedy snap saw them claim all four points in a crucial match.

Adam Simpson’s side has been riddled with injuries so far this season, but they will have plenty of stars back for this huge clash with the second-placed Dogs. Brad Sheppard, Jeremy McGovern, Luke Shuey and Tim Kelly are all certain inclusions.

Meanwhile, the Dogs lost a heartbreaking contest against the Cats by five points.

The Dogs were made to rue for missed chances in the final term, with star captain Marcus Bontempelli missing early on. Gary Rohan inevitably kicked a goal after the siren to break Bulldog hearts.

There’s no doubt that Luke Beveridge’s side will have to be at their best on Sunday, with the Eagles only losing two matches at home in their last 16. Their only loss at home this season was against the Bombers four weeks ago.

It should be a high scoring contest with the last six Eagles matches going over the total points line, and the Dogs have been the highest-scoring team in the competition this season.

This has the makings to be a brilliant contest, and I believe the Eagles will have what it takes at home to pile the misery onto the Bulldogs.

Eagles vs Dogs Team News

West Coast have named Brad Sheppard, Jeremy McGovern, Luke Shuey and Tim Kelly as certain inclusions. Whilst Harry Edwards, Luke Foley and Xavier O’Neill are all omitted.

The Dogs have named Ed Richards, Josh Schache and riley Garcia, with no outs so far.

*Teams are yet to be reduced to 22, four omissions still need to be made from the eight-man bench.

The two sides last met in Round 2 this season, which saw the Dogs win by seven points.
