Eels vs Broncos Preview and Prediction

Flying high in third spot on the ladder, the Eels will look to further cement themselves as premiership contenders when they face the struggling Broncos in Darwin on Friday night.

Parramatta have won five of their six matches this season, immediately bouncing back from their shock home loss to the Dragons by easing past the Raiders 35-10 last week.

It was the Eels’ first victory in Canberra since 2006, with off-season signing Isaiah Papali’i scoring a double to take his try-scoring tally to an impressive five across the first six rounds.

Mitch Moses produced arguably his best performance of the season as he took complete control of the game with his kicking and ball-playing. It was a polished display and now the Eels will look to keep their momentum going against one of the competition’s battlers.

Brisbane put in a brave effort against the unbeaten Panthers last week and were level with 10 minutes to go, but Nathan Cleary scored eight points himself as the Broncos went down 20-12.

After dropping Anthony Milford to reserves, Tom Deardon and Brodie Croft combined in the halves and almost guided their side to an upset for the ages – but the challenge for the inexperienced pair is to repeat that performance week in and week out.

The fact remains that the Broncos haven’t beaten a team outside of the Bulldogs since March 2020 and with a poor away record, I can’t see them snapping that run against one of the NRL’s best sides.

Parramatta have won the last four games between the teams and are coming off a big win over the Raiders last week. Another 13+ victory should be on the cards here.
