Penrith Panthers vs Brisbane Broncos Preview & Prediction

The Panthers will be looking to pile more heartbreak on the Broncos when the two sides meet in a rematch of last season’s Grand Final on Thursday night to launch Round 3 action.

Penrith orchestrated the biggest come back in Grand Final history last season, with Nathan Cleary putting on a masterclass to guide his side to a 26-24 triumph and a third consecutive premiership.

The Panthers are out to create more history in 2024 and they got their season up and running with an impressive 26-18 win over rivals Parramatta last week.

With 11 wins from their last 12 games at BlueBet Stadium, the Panthers will be confident of picking up another two points here – especially with the Broncos missing arguably their most important player.

Adam Reynolds is out injured for Brisbane, so Jock Madden comes in at halfback for his first game since Round 27 last season.

The Broncos are also 1-1 on the season, bouncing back from losing to the Roosters in Vegas by toppling the embattled Rabbitohs 28-18 at home last week.

Kevin Walters’ side still looks a bit clunky to start the season and facing the three-time reigning premiers on the road is the toughest possible assignment for his side right now.

VERDICT:

Can’t see the Broncos having enough points in them to overcome the notoriously strong Panthers defence at BlueBet.

The two regular season meetings between the teams last season finished with just 25 & 19 total points scored. Backing a relatively low-scoring affair again, with the Panthers breaking away late (Best Under 37.5 total points odds $1.92 with Dabble.)
