Panthers vs Broncos Preview & Prediction

It’s been a dominant start to the season for reigning premiers Penrith and that’s set to continue when they entertaining a slumping Broncos outfit on Good Friday.

There’s been no premiership hangover for the Panthers, with Ivan Cleary’s troops the only undefeated team in the competition after five rounds.

Penrith haven’t really needed to get out of second gear across the first five rounds, beating the Sea Eagles, Dragons, Knights, Rabbitohs and Bulldogs, with four of those wins coming by 13+ margins.

The Panthers won their first three games without star halfback Nathan Cleary and have unearthed some more backline talent in Taylan May and Izack Tago. The production line at the foot of the mountains seems endless and the Panthers look good to challenge for the premiership again in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Broncos have capitulated after a bright start to the season in which they defeated the Rabbitohs and Bulldogs, losing their last three straight to the Cowboys, Warriors and Roosters.

Brisbane were terrible against the Cowboys and Warriors, but did show improvement in a tight four-point loss to the Roosters last week.

However, the Broncos did show in patches what they could do last season, but consistency remains a problem. Adam Reynolds has yet to find his groove in the Broncos No. 7 jersey and he needs a big performance if Brisbane are to keep this close.

VERDICT:

The Panthers have won their last 19 matches last BlueBet Stadium and there’s no way they will be losing this one.

It’s tough to find any value in this clash with Penrith such heavy favourites, but there is a little something in taking the Broncos at the +22.5 line. Brisbane have covered that line in all of their games against the Panthers over the last decade, while they’ve also covered the line in seven of their last eight games as an underdog (Best Broncos +22.5 line odds $2.00 with Ladbrokes.)
