Broncos vs Panthers Preview and Prediction

Another mis-match is on the cards to open Round 6 when the high-flying and undefeated Panthers meet the embattled Broncos at Suncorp.

The gulf in class between these two sides couldn’t be more drastic. Brisbane are a basket case and have been for over a year now.

Incredibly, the Broncos haven’t defeated a side other than fellow battlers Canterbury for the last 13 months. Their only win so far in 2021 was over the Bulldogs, while they’ve lost their last two matches to the Storm and Rabbitohs by a combined score of 75-12.

Anthony Milford has finally been dropped, with Tom Deardon and Brodie Croft forming Brisbane’s halves pairing for this clash.

Meanwhile, the Panthers have been sensational to begin the season, well and truly erasing any fears of a Grand Final hangover from last season.

Penrith have won all five matches and only conceded 26 points for the entire year. To put that into perspective, the Broncos are leaking 25.4 points per game and 31.75 across their four losses.

Jarome Luai has been in scintillating form, taking his game to another level from last season, where he was the competition’s leader in try assists. Luai has already provided seven try assists in five games this season and is poised to rip open the weak Broncos defence on Thursday night.

We can expect winger Brian To’o to cross the line – he’s at least one try in his last four games in Queensland, while Xavier Coates could be in hand for a consolation four-pointer for the Broncos having scored in four of his last five games.

Overall, this should be another easy win for the Panthers as they aim to remain undefeated after six rounds.

Broncos vs Panthers Teams

Anthony Milford has been dropped to reserve grade in favour of Brodie Croft, while Jesse Arthurs comes into the centuries for Brisbane in place of Tesi Niu. Ben Te’o is out for the next 12 weeks with a biceps injury, with his spot on the bench taken by Ethan Bullemor.

No changes to the Panther side that cruised past the Raiders last week.
