Bulldogs vs Titans Preview and Prediction

Gold Coast continue their pursuit of a finals spot when they face the struggling Bulldogs on Sunday at Cbus Super Stadium.

The Titans have underperformed all season, but two wins from their last three matches have seen them rise to within two points of the top eight.

Justin Holbrook’s side failed to back up an enormous away win over the Raiders when they went down to the Eels at home, but they bounced back strongly last week to ease past the Dragons by a 32-10 scoreline.

Consistency is key for the Titans – they haven’t won back-to-back games since Rounds 2 and 3 back in March, but this looms as the perfect chance for them to snap that drought – especially if David Fifita continues his resurgent form.

Canterbury have been struggling all season, but that comes as no surprise as they are rebuilding and set to be a more competitive outfit from 2022.

The Bulldogs have shown some improvement over the last month, pushing the Roosters and Rabbitohs, along with an impressive second-half showing against Cronulla, but the fact remains that they’ve only won two games all year.

They’ve suffered a big blow for this clash, with star forward Luke Thompson – who has been among the best in the NRL this season – suspended for the next three matches. Lachlan Lewis has also been dropped to an extended bench, so their attack will likely be disjointed again.

VERDICT:

Gold Coast are far from a reliable side, but at home against the last-placed side, surely they will lift and make a statement.

The Titans have won three of the last four meetings between the teams, and with Thompson missing for the Bulldogs, they should be able to register a relatively comfortable win (Best Titans -12.5 Line odds $1.90 with Sportsbet).
