Titans vs Bulldogs Preview and Prediction
It’s a must-win game for the Titans if they are serious about playing finals footy in 2021 when they face the last-placed Bulldogs on Saturday.
Touted as one of the teams to watch this season after a strong recruitment drive, the Titans started the season solidly enough, but they’ve slipped back into old habits over the last month to drop out of the top eight after 10 rounds.
Defence has been a major concern for the Titans – they’ve conceded a whopping 188 points in their last five games, including 48 in last week’s crushing loss to the Panthers.
Fortunately for the Titans, they are coming up against the NRL’s worst attacking side as they look to get their season back on track.
Canterbury are enduring a nightmare season and are almost certainties to pick up the wooden spoon with just one win from their opening 10 rounds.
The fact the Bulldogs couldn’t put away an out-of-form Raiders side who were a man down and on a five-match losing streak while 12-8 up in the second half says all you need to know about Trent Barrett’s side at the moment.
The Bulldogs simply have no creativity in attack and I can’t see what Brandon Wakeham and Jake Averillo can do to improve it.
I’m almost prepared to say you can put a line through the Titans for 2021 if they don’t win this clash. We can expect a relatively high-scoring game with the Titans involved, but they’ve won four of their last five at home and should extend that streak here.
