South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Canterbury Bulldogs Preview & Prediction

The Rabbitohs got back on track with a huge win over the Warriors last week – can they double down and knock off an embattled Bulldogs side without four of their Origin stars on Saturday night?

South Sydney were in a rut heading across the ditch last week, losing four of their last five games, conceding 30+ points in all four.

However, you could tell the Rabbitohs had galvanised themselves last week, with the team producing an excellent performance in torrential rain, holding the Warriors to just one try in a dominant 28-6 triumph.

Souths will be confident of building on that victory on Saturday night, even without the likes of Cody Walker, Damien Cook, Cameron Murray and Keaon Kiloamatangi, while Latrell Mitchell is still sidelined.

The Bulldogs have it rock bottom after a nightmare last few years, suffering an embarrassing 66-0 loss to the Knights last week.

It was one of the club’s heaviest ever defeats, with Cameron Ciraldo finally deciding to make some changes and dropping Hayze Perham and Paul Alamoti.

Canterbury desperately need a playmaker to organise their attack and take the pressure of Matt Burton – and they’ve named new signing Toby Sexton to start at halfback in his club debut after only arriving at training earlier this week.

VERDICT

Against most teams, I couldn’t back the Rabbitohs without their Origin stars + Latrell. However, the Bulldogs are absolutely atrocious right now and unless Sexton turns up and works miracles, I can’t see them scoring enough points.

Souths were mightily impressive last week and put 50 points on the Dogs earlier this season, so going to back them to cover on Saturday night (Best Rabbitohs -4.5 line odds $1.91 with bet365.)
