Bulldogs vs Rabbitohs Preview and Prediction

Canterbury are in absolutely horrendous form heading into this clash with the Rabbitohs and face being blown off the park once again in the traditional Good Friday showdown at Stadium Australia.

Despite a new coach and a bunch of off-season recruits, it’s been more of the same for the Bulldogs so far in 2021.

After losing 42-0 to the Panthers in their last game of 2020, the Bulldogs have lost two more games to nil this season, going down 28-0 once more to Penrith before last week’s woeful 24-0 display against the Broncos, while they opened their season with a 32-16 defeat to Newcastle.

Attack has been an issue for a long time at Belmore and the Bulldogs are showing no signs of improving in that area – even with the likes of Kyle Flanagan, Nick Cotric and Corey Allan joining the club.

Trent Barrett – who was the attacking coach at Penrith last season – has made the decision to bring in Lachlan Lewis to partner Flanagan in the halves for this clash.

Meanwhile, the Rabbitohs were outstanding in a convincing win over arch-rivals the Roosters last weekend, with the final score of 26-16 not representing their full 80-minute dominance.

Souths were in complete control from start to finish and Wayne Bennett will be determined his side don’t show any complacency against one of the competition’s weakest sides on Friday afternoon.

Attack is certainly not an issue for the Bunnies, with the club scoring five tries against Manly and four against the Roosters in their last two matches.

The Bulldogs ambushed the Rabbitohs in Round 19 last season, but I can’t see another upset happening here. Canterbury are in complete shambles and Souths were hugely impressive last week. With Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Adam Reynolds and Alex Johnston all firing, expect another big win for the Bunnies here.

Bulldogs vs Rabbitohs Teams

Lachlan Lewis joins Kyle Flanagan in the halves for Canterbury at the expense of Jake Averillo. Jeremy Marshal-King is out injured for the next two months with a foot injury and is replaced at hooker by Sione Katoa, while Josh Jackson is suspended.

Jackson Topine and Dean Britt join the Bulldogs bench.

No changes for the Rabbitohs following their big win over the Roosters.
