Rabbitohs vs Bulldogs Preview & Prediction

South Sydney will view this match as a great chance to start building some momentum when they take on the Bulldogs at Accor Stadium on Good Friday.

The Rabbitohs were dealt a tough draw to open the 2022 season, but after easing past the Dragons 24-12 last week, they now face last year’s wooden spooners.

After an 11-4 upset loss to the Broncos in the opening round, the Rabbitohs went down to the Storm in a heartbreaking golden point loss, while they also fell to the Panthers in a Grand Final rematch.

Combating the loss of Adam Reynolds was always going to be tough, but Lachlan Ilias is improving with each outing, while a win over the Roosters was also a confidence-booster.

Latrell Mitchell is out injured for the next month or so with a hamstring problem, so Cody Walker will need to step up and provide some attacking spark for the Bunnies.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have now lost four straight games after their first round victory over the Cowboys, including losing their last two against the Storm and Panthers by 44-0 and 32-12 scores.

Attack is still the biggest issue for Canterbury, but Kyle Flanagan produced a promising performance last week, so Dogs fans will be hoping his combination with Matt Burton continues to show improvement.

Matt Dufty also needs to inject himself more into the Bulldogs attack after the former Dragon had a shocking day out against Penrith last week.

VERDICT:

The Bulldogs always try hard and there’s some noticeable improvement, but the fact remains they simply don’t have the points in them to beat the best teams – and in their only win for the season, they only managed one try.

Souths are missing Latrell Mitchell, but they still have plenty of firepower and should be able to roll over the top of the Bulldogs as the game drags on (Best Rabbitohs -10.5 line odds $2.00 with Ladbrokes.)
