Canterbury Bulldogs vs Sydney Roosters Preview & Prediction
It’s the 20th anniversary of the 2004 Grand Final as the Bulldogs and Roosters renew their rivalry on Friday night at Accor Stadium.
Canterbury emerged triumphant that night, but they haven’t won a premiership since and over the last decade, have been languishing near the foot of the ladder more often than not.
Despite another massive recruitment drive, the Bulldogs still look out of ideas in attack. Matt Burton desperately needs an organiser alongside him in the halves, but Drew Hutchison so far looks slow and unable to fill the role. Toby Sexton surely can’t be too far away from a return to No. 7.
While the Dogs continue to struggle in attack, there have been some definite improvements so far this season, namely in defence and overall resilience. However, a big blow this week for Canterbury, with Josh Addo-Carr, Jacob Preston and Kurtis Morrin all out.
Meanwhile, the Roosters dished up a disappointing performance against the Panthers (minus Nathan Cleary) last week, with a close scoreline of a 22-16 defeat flattering them.
The Roosters were battered and outclassed all over the park and only scored their first try in the 39th minute.
With convincing wins over the Broncos and Rabbitohs this season, the Roosters are amongst the best sides when everything is firing, but as has been the case over the last couple of seasons, errors and poor discipline is costing them.
VERDICT:
Important game for the Roosters to get their season up and running again here. The Bulldogs will likely struggle again for points, so not expecting a big total here. Chooks have won nine of the last 10 meetings.
Will back the Roosters to get the job done with Under 48.5 total points for our best bet (Best Roosters win H2H & Under 48.5 points odds $1.62 with Dabble.)
