Bulldogs vs Wests Tigers Preview & Prediction

The Bulldogs are brimming with confidence as they go in search of rare consecutive victories when they come up against the Tigers on Sunday at CommBank Stadium.

Canterbury are coming off their best performance in years after they dismantled the high-flying Eels 34-4 on Monday, a victory that lifted them off the bottom of the ladder.

It was Mick Potter’s first win as interim coach of the Dogs as Matt Burton and Josh Addo-Carr wreaked havoc on the edges and the side also produced a brilliant defensive display.

Under Potter, the Bulldogs have scored more points in four rounds than they did over the previous 10 with Trent Barrett in charge. Burton and Addo-Carr have struck up an outstanding combination that brings back memories of Brent Sherwin and Hazem El Masri, while Tevita Pangai Jr once again showed just how dangerous he can be if he can keep his discipline in check.

Meanwhile, the Tigers were dreadful in their last outing, going down 30-4 to a Sea Eagles side without Daly Cherry-Evans and Tom Trbojevic.

Brett Kimmorely is seeing first hand just how touch the head coaching gig at the Tigers can be and he has a mammoth challenge ahead of him to get the team competitive again.

Two of the Tigers’ three wins this season were by exactly one point and the other was last month over the Dogs in Potter’s first game in charge, so there certainly hasn’t been much to cheer about.

VERDICT:

It’s tough to back either side with much confidence, but the Bulldogs have shown glimpses of what they can do this season when they get it right. After all, they’ve defeated the Eels, Cowboys and Roosters – three teams that are expected to play finals this season.

Potter has the side playing with much more fluidity in attack, led by Burton and Addo-Carr on the edges. If the Bulldogs can pick up from where they left off last week, they should be able to take care of this poor Tigers team and register back-to-back wins (Best Bulldogs win H2H odds $1.75 with bet365.)
